This shorter above blade spindle spacer allows you to run the stock SCAG lade bolt and keeps the blades at the same cutting height and perform best. It is not required, but you would need to get 10″ long bolts if you don’t use this spacer; the bolts will also sit 1/4″ lower on the machine, which can create some grass blow out.
